“The History of American-Turkish Relations: 1833
- 1989”, organized by Bogazici University and Harran University
in Urfa was an opportunity for scholars
from Turkey, the U.S. and other countries to examine the long and close history of
the two countries. The conference, produced volumes in Turkish and English that will serve as significant
reference works of this historical relationship.
Bogazici and Harran Universities hosted the conference between
June 4-10, 2006.

PROGRAM
Bogazici University, founded on the campus of Robert College which
was the first American higher educational institution overseas,
and Harran University, situated in the historic homeland of the
ancient cultures and civilizations of this region, are collaborating
in this endeavor. This collaboration will render the conference
accessible to colleagues outside of Istanbul and expand the discussion
of this historical relationship to a wider audience in Turkey.
